Comic-Bookish Chris Evans

I still have a few Marvel movies to catch up on, but I can’t wait to see Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. in Captain America: Civil War. I have been a comic book fan since childhood and it thrills me that comic books are mainstream again and accepted as literary. While probably not the most acclaimed actor in Hollywood, Chris has definitely won hearts for being a genuinely nice guy (see video below).

A majority of the bookish movies Chris has starred in are based on comic books, including:

Fantastic Four (2005) based on the Marvel comic, Chris plays Johnny Storm, the younger brother of Sue Storm and an ex-astronaut who can set himself on fire and fly. As usual, Chris is the most interesting character in the movie because Johnny Storm doesn’t take any of the superhero stuff too seriously.

The Nanny Diaries (2005) with Scarlett Johansson who befriends and falls for Chris as Hayden “Harvard Hottie”. I haven’t read the book by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus, but I enjoyed the movie and Chris does a fairly adequate job of playing a hottie.

The Losers (2010) where Chris plays Jake Jensen, an intelligence and computer specialist on the Losers team. I’m a fan of Vertigo comics, but I haven’t seen this movie and with a cast that also features Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana and Idris Elba, I think I need to get on it!

In Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), Chris is Steve Rogers, a young man exposed to a mysterious relic that turns him into a superhuman. Just what America needs in the fight against Nazi Germany. A little more serious as Captain America, Chris is the all-American hero who believes wholeheartedly in fighting for good and you can’t help cheering for him.

What’s your favourite Chris Evans movie? Are you a comic book fan?

Just watch the first 25 seconds of this video. The internet went crazy!

  1. I’ve only seen the Marvel movies and Fantastic Four. I like him in all of those. I think he’s a great actor and he’s nice looking too. 🙂

I don’t think it will come as a big surprise that I don’t read comic books and I don’t know who Chris Evans is (you’re used to this from me by now, right?). BUT I did read The Nanny Diaries and thought it was funny. I’d love to see the movie! I’d say he’s easy on the eyes. 🙂

I love Chris Evans as Captain America – a genuinely nice man playing a genuinely good hero. I can’t wait to see Captain America: Civil War 😀
